Meliá Hotels International Strengthens Presence in Asia, Africa with Three New Lodgings

Meliá Hotels International has announced three new hotel projects in China, Vietnam and Cape Verde. With these new incorporations, the company will strengthen its international expansion campaign in up-and-coming tourist markets. In this respect, the chain presented its expansion project in greater detail during its participation at FITUR 2012.
With regard to its operations in Asia, MELIÁ has just announced that the Gran Meliá Xi'an will open in 2013, thus becoming the chain's second hotel in China, following the inauguration of the Gran Meliá Shanghai in 2009. The new hotel will be located in Xi'an, the place where the famous terracotta army was discovered back in 1974.
For its part, the Meliá Danang, which is due to open its doors in December 2012, will be located on the Beach of Non Nuoc, one of the largest cities in Southern Vietnam, a destination that is very close to a number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, such as the Ancient City of Hoy An and the ruins of the My Son Shrine.
Furthermore, the company has announced that it will assume responsibility for managing Meliá White Sands, a large luxury resort featuring 850 rooms in Cape Verde. This project, which is currently under construction, will be the first MELIÁ hotel on the Island of Boa Vista and the fourth establishment belonging to the chain in Cape Verde.
