MSC Poesia to Feature Latin Music of Tito Puente Jr.
MSC Cruises’ MSC Poesia will host Tito Puente Jr. and his six-piece band on a two-night Caribbean cruise departing Jan. 2. Fares start at $129 plus $57 in government fees and taxes. He is the son of the late Latin music percussionist, composer and arranger, Tito Puente, whose career as “El Rey” (the King) spanned half a century, seven Grammy Awards, 158 albums and thousands of performances.
Puente Jr.’s most recent release, “Got Mambo,” is a mixture of the old and the new. “In My Father’s Shoes,” his 2004 album, features the classic Puente titles and was turned into a BET Jazz television special of the same name. The cruise will call at Nassau. As on all MSC Cruises’ sailings, kids ages 11 and younger sail free when sharing a stateroom with two full-fare-paying adults.
