New Royal Caribbean Ship to Feature Mamma Mia!

Royal Caribbean International will offer yet another Broadway production on its fleet. “Mamma Mia!” will play on the 4,180-passenger Quantum of the Seas when it debuts next November.

The show, based on the songs of Swedish pop sensation ABBA, tells the tale of a daughter’s search for her father as she prepares for her wedding on a Greek island.

Quantum of the Seas and sister ship Anthem of the Seas, due out in April 2015, will be 167,800 gross tons in size.

“Since introducing ‘Hairspray’ onboard Oasis of the Seas in 2009, our Tony award-winning musical productions have been incredibly well-received by guests, and we are proud to expand our Broadway at sea offerings with our fourth licensed main-stage production — more than any other cruise line,” said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, executive vice president-operations for Royal Caribbean International.

In addition to “Hairspray” on Oasis of the Seas, Royal Caribbean offers “Chicago: The Musical” on Allure of the Seas and “Saturday Night Fever” on Liberty of the Seas.
