Photo Contest to Mark Excelencias Group’s Tenth Anniversary
In a bid to celebrate the Excelencias Group’s tenth birthday and with a view to both promoting and highlighting travel destinations in the Caribbean and the Americas, this contest is open to all professional or amateur photographers willing to sign up in the following tourism-related categories:
- City
- Nature
- Lifestyle
- Underwater Photography
For printed photography:
Contestants may send up to three unedited and non-awarded works per author in each category, printed in photographic paper, in black and white or in full color, featuring a 30cm x 40cm image mounted on rigid format or paspartus, displaying a slogan on the reverse side of the picture –the same for all photos- and a title for each and every one of them.
Pictures will be sent in sealed envelopes displaying the slogan and the title of every picture in it –if it had one- the place where the picture was taken and the photographer’s personal data: full name, mailing address, country, email, phone numbers and zip code. Images that have been digitally tampered with will be accepted.
For digital photography:
Contestants may send up to three unedited and non-awarded works per author in each category, in 300dpi resolution and 18cm x 24cm size. Each picture will carry a unique identifying slogan and a name, if any.
In an additional file named after the slogan, the photographer will include the name of each and every work, the place where the pictures were taken, the date, all means used for taking them, the participant’s personal data: full name, mailing address, country, email, phone numbers and zip code. These images will be accepted even if they have been digitally tampered with.
Prizes:
The contest’s jury will award a Unique Prize in each category that will consist of an absolutely free stay of five (5) days in a Caribbean hotel. The jury will reserve the right to give as many honor mentions as it sees fit.
Winning pictures will be exposed in one particular stand within the framework of the 2008 edition of the International Tourism Fair in Spain’s Madrid (FITUR), as well as in a virtual gallery in the Excelencias Group’s digital publications, and in a catalog published in the 70th issue of Caribbean Tourist Excellencies magazine due out in FITUR 2008.
Registration closes on September 30, 2007 and the jury’s decision will be informed during the International Tourism Fair (FITUR 2008) in Spain’s Madrid.

Important Note:
Authors will take full responsibility in both securing and sending their pictures. Works sent by mail must be properly protected and registered. The Excelencias Group will only assume responsibility in taking care of the pictures once the company is in possession of photographs.
Accepting the contest bases implies that authors cede the rights of their works to the Excelencias Group. Those images will be considered part of the company’s database and will be published indistinctly in any or all of its printed or digital publications, as well as exposed in galleries or other sites designed for that particular purpose.
Prize Conditions:
The prizes don’t include transportation. Winning authors will assume costs linked to this matter.
Authors will not be allowed to request to trade the prize (the stay at the hotel and its services) for money, checks or any other item or service, nor could those prizes be endorsed or cashed in to win stays in other destinations or hotels.
All date requests will be subjected to room availability in the hotels and the top deadline to enjoy the hotel stay won’t be longer than one (1) year from the date the prize is announced.
The Excelencias Group or the Exclusivas Latinoamericanas company won’t accept claims in case of cancellation, annulment, modification, suspension or alteration of dates or the prize contents due to force majeure causes.
The company cannot be in any way held accountable for whatever occurrence could come to pass during the hotel stay or the transportation of contest winners.
