Preps Under Way for the 14th Caribbean Conference on Sustainable Tourism Development

The Caribbean Tourism Organization has been staging its Annual Conference on Sustainable Tourism Development, also known as the Sustainable Tourism Conference (STC) since 1997. This is a Conference from which everyone involved in tourism and doing business in and with the Caribbean tourism industry can benefit from.
The Conference will take place from 15 to 18 of April in Trinidad and Tobago and its main slogan is “Keeping the Balance”, seeking to optimize the sustainability of the destination with products, alliances and profitability.
Those in attendance will examine ways to enrich visitor experiences beyond stereotypical urban and rural tourism products, learn from winning destinations’ good practice models in tourism sustainability; learn how to design and implement sustainable tourism policies and programs, and take advantage to exchange information on successes and pitfalls of national, regional and international initiatives.
The delegates will generate new and creative ideas on how to enhance the sustainability and competitiveness of the Caribbean tourism product. Representatives Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) also mentioned the need to diversify the stereotype view of urban and rural tourism.
The new vision of the CTO is that for 2017 the Caribbean will be the most visited travel destination. During the meeting there will be panels, presentations and lectures with the attendance of delegates, experts and professionals at the local, regional and international level.
