Project for the Creation of the Central American Gastronomy Academy Launched
Jose Carlos de Santiago, President and CEO of the Excelencias Group, on behalf of Spain-based Doña Maria de las Mercedes Foundation and the Latin American Gastronomy Academy –close collaborators- unveiled this project to the technical council of Central America, gathered in Panama on the occasion of the regional tourism fair.
The initiative of this Central American Gastronomy Academy looks forward to opening an opportunity to organize and label touristic establishments, at regional or particular levels, with the support of national academies, providing an organized vision, with unique criteria, for tourists to handpick establishments in terms of the same criteria.
Likewise, further arguments will be given to promote the spreading of gastronomic culture as an attractive element to contribute to the selection of these countries as travel destinations, explained De Santiago during his presentation.
Doña Maria de las Mercedes Foundation promotes activities carried out by the Latin American Gastronomy Academy in order to encourage “research, spreading and protection of cuisine traditions and gastronomic activities rooted in different Latin American regions”, through joint actions with academies from Spain, Andalusia, Portugal, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Peru, boosting the positioning of destinations through their cuisines, elements that see eye to eye with the promotion executed by the Excelencias Group through magazines and websites.
