Quintana Roo to Take Half of Mexico’s Pavilion in Fitur 2016

Quintana Roo will be covering half of Mexico’s tourism pavilion in the International Travel Fair (Fitur) to kick off in Madrid, Spain, on January 20, with the participation of another 65 countries.
Entrepreneurs from the state’s travel industry and Tourism Promotion Trusteeships are already in Spain, ready to begin the pre-scheduled meetings with tours operators, airlines and authorities, in a bid to establish new airlift alliances and attract new markets.
Dario Flota, director of the Tourism Promotion Trusteeship of Riviera Maya, Cozumel and Tulum, pointed out that Spain send over 170 tourists to the destination last year, with an average growth of 3 percent by the end of the year.
Spain was once ranked as Riviera Maya’s number one European tourist outbound destination, but the economic crisis had a negative impact. Now, the recovery has begun.
“This segment went up to 240 thousand visitors back in 2008. It’s growing again and it’s expected to keep on recovering it rate this year.”
Mr. Flota underlined that the importance of this market is expressed by the participation of companies and tour operators based at the state, and he explained that Quintana Roo will be practically carpeting half of Mexico’s pavilion.
