RCCL to Further Cut Europe Capacity

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. said it plans a further reduction in capacity for Europe sailings. In announcing its first-quarter results, RCCL said it plans to reduce 2014 year-over-year capacity by an additional 10%. It now expects European cruises to account for 25% of its capacity in 2014.

RCCL brands include Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara Club Cruises, Pullmantur (which is based in Spain) and CDF Croisieres de France. RCCL said demand for the "micro-deployment" of Oasis of the Seas to Europe at the end of the 2014 summer has been "exceptionally strong."

Oasis will spend two months sailing in Europe before a scheduled drydock in Rotterdam.
