Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. has joined forces with Resolve Maritime Academy to offer new simulation-based crew training programs to enhance safety at sea. Although the partnership was made last year before the Costa Concordia tragedy, RCCL says the training programs will begin in the second quarter to crews from Azamara Club Cruises, Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean International.

The training will take place at Resolve’s new Simulation Training Center, currently in final stages of construction, adjacent to Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. Resolve offers simulation-based courses and live-burn firefighting, fast boat rescue and other safety training programs for cruise lines and other sectors of the maritime industry.

Resolve developed training programs specifically for RCCL. The new training center features a bridge simulator, electronic chart display and information system, and a classroom and navigation lab with mini bridges. Future plans include an engine room simulator.
