RCCL Obtains Financing for Third Oasis-Class Ship
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. secured €892 million in financing for a third Oasis-class ship, the company said in a Form 8-K filing to the SEC. Compagnie Française d’Assurance pour le Commerce Extérieur, the export credit agency of France, has agreed to guarantee 100 percent of the financing.
RCCL placed the order in December for a third 225,282-ton, 5,400-passenger vessel for delivery in mid-2016 from the STX France shipyard. It is a sister to the largest cruise ships in the world, Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas, which debuted in November 2009 and November 2010, respectively, and sail weekly from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. Built at STX shipyard in Finland, they feature seven neighborhoods, including Central Park, Boardwalk and the Royal Promenade.
“These ships have consistently generated outstanding guest satisfaction ratings and continue to produce superior financial results,” RCCL Chairman and CEO Richard D. Fain said in announcing the ship order. “We are thrilled to be adding a sister to this extraordinary class of vessels at a compelling price.”
