Riu Acquires Radisson Blu Resort on St. Martin
Riu Hotels & Resorts has purchased the 252-room Radisson Blu St. Martin for $45 million.
The resort, located in Anse Marcel on the French side of the Dutch-French island, will be renamed the Riu Palace St. Martin on June 1.
The property opened under the Radisson flag in December 2008, following an $80 million renovation and conversion of L'Habitacio de Lonvilliers.
It was converted to the upscale Radisson Blu brand in 2010, following a seven-month, $10 million renovation.
The resort was not an all-inclusive property under Radisson, although it did offer an all-inclusive option. Riu will operate it as an all-inclusive, the first on the French side of the island. Two Sonesta resorts on the Dutch side of St. Maarten are operated as all-inclusives.
