The Spanish Monarchs Open FITUR 2017 in Madrid

Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia, opened on Wednesday 18 January at 10.30 am the 37th staging of the International Tourism Trade Fair, FITUR 2017, an event organized by IFEMA which is bringing together at Feria de Madrid, until 22 January, the offerings of 9,672 tourism companies, institutions and bodies from 165 countries and regions

This year FITUR’s central theme is Sustainable Tourism for development. The World Tourism Organization has itself designated this event as the starting point for the plan proposed for this year 2017 by the United Nations Organization. It is for this type of innovative and environmentally- and social-development-friendly tourism that the industry is making such great efforts in recent years.

Another of the novelties of FITUR 2017 is that Argentina is on this occasion the Trade Fair’s main partner. The Latin American country takes on the initiative launched by FITUR last year, which offers the opportunity of joining in the communication strategy through a partnership program, providing the guest destination with a maximum of attention and outreach.

At FITUR 2017, we will see the latest solutions, both economic and environmental and social, for world tourism, allowing it to do work that will promote and foster each location’s heritage value and the cultural diversity that we can enjoy thanks to this era of technological and information revolution.

Benefiting from these solutions will be the 9,672 companies participating in the Trade Fair, which hail from 165 countries and regions, and the 755 main stand holders, who account for a 6% increase over the previous staging in 2016. We should highlight the growth of the international area, with 9% more exhibitors, with America’s growth of 17% being particularly outstanding; followed by that of Asia-Pacific, with 12%, and Europe (including Israel), with 9% more than last year.

The 37th staging of the International Tourism Trade Fair, FITUR, organized by IFEMA, is being held from 18 to 22 January 2017 in Halls 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 of Feria de Madrid. From 18 to 20 January, it will be open exclusively to professionals (between 10 am and 7 pm), and on the weekend, it will be open to the public: on Saturday 21 January from 10 am to 8 pm and on Sunday 22 January from 10 am to 6 pm.
