World Travel Industry to Meet Again at FITUR 2009

Three months away from the holding of the twenty-ninth edition of FITUR, which is held in Madrid from 28 January to 1 February 2009, it already has a high level of occupation. Regarding representation, the growth of some regions from the international area is especially outstanding, such as America, which has increased by 10 percent compared to figures from last year on the same date, or Asia where growth has reached 15 percent.

Specifically, some of the countries from South Asia, such as Nepal, India and Bhutan, are among those who have most increased their representation, both in terms of exhibition square meters and participating companies. Territories like France, Argentina, Central America and Morocco have also grown quite significantly.

New markets such as Bosnia-Herzegovina, which makes its first appearance at FITUR’09 to exhibit its wide range of leisure, nature, and cultural products, continue to be added to the already broad international range.

Also Kenya, which recently opened a new tourist office in Spain, and Mozambique are again officially represented this year. The interest in attending this extraordinary business platform that FITUR represents shows the potential that the Trade Fair offers these destinations.

According to the contracting figures, this interest is shared by official national entities and bodies. In this respect, the participation of all the Autonomous Communities has already been confirmed for the Trade Fair. These will occupy all the odd-numbered halls and the exterior central area of the Feria de Madrid site.

The range on offer at FITUR is completed by exhibits from all the companies, both national and international, which have saved their latest products to present them to professionals at one of the main global forums within the tourism industry.
