Yorkshire tourism chiefs are heading to sunny Spain in a bid to beat the credit crunch. A delegation will be at the prestigious FITUR trade fair in Madrid from next Wednesday to Sunday February 1.

The Spanish tourism market is growing in importance –in 2007 there were almost 100,000 visitors from the country, worth £18 million.

“The Yorkshire team is anticipating a great deal of attention and the opportunity to make further contacts during the event as a result of this dynamic and extremely vibrant campaign which has created awareness and much interest in Spain,” said Yorkshire Tourist Board chief executive Gary Verity.
