The French Caribbean island of Martinique is back on the tourist map in a big way, in large part due to stepped-up airlift from destinations like New York and Miami. Now, the airlift renaissance is continuing.

Haiti’s Sunrise Airways has announced the expansion of its fleet with a new ATR 42-320 aircraft. The company said it would accept delivery in late February 2016.

Air France has added a new aircraft to its regional network in the Caribbean. The French carrier has added a new Airbus A320 with 168 seats, 12 in business and 156 in economy classes.

It is the only airline to operate daily flights between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Quito’s Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO).

Honduras-based airline, Easy Sky, has signed an agreement with Caribbean travel agency BEDY Travel to offer flights from Honduras via Cuba to St Lucia.

Southwest Airlines says a possible bird strike prompted pilots to return a flight to Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport after takeoff.
