There are two new hotels on the way in St Lucia, according to the government. The first hotel is a major project by Canadian travel giant Sunwing at the former Smugglers Hotel. The second is a 100-room companion hotel to Dive Saint Lucia called Harbor Club; that project is now under construction.

The Marriott Port-au-Prince Hotel— the result of a philanthropic collaboration between Marriott International, Digicel Group and The Clinton Foundation — opened its doors in March. The 175-room Marriott is the first of its brand in the country and aims to bring sustainability to the people of Haiti

Currently under construction in Pelican Bay, St. Kitts will debut a 226-suite Embassy Suites by Hilton hotel in the first quarter of 2017. This announcement was made by Hilton Hotels on Wednesday, May 6, following the signing of a franchise agreement with Caribbean-based developers Sterling Developments.

Hilton Worldwide will introduce its extended-stay Homewood Suites brand in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in the third quarter of 2017. Facilities will include an open lobby that flows into an indoor/outdoor living room and dining terrace; and 120 studio, one- and two-bedroom suites with fully equipped kitchens and a full-service bar and lounge.

Accor’s upper-upscale brand Pullman plans to open its first Cuba hotel in November. The Pullman Cayo Coco will have WiFi in all rooms.

It’s been a quarter of a century since Meliá Hotels Internationals dropped its anchor in Cuba with the opening of its first hotel –Sol Palmeras- on May 10, 1990 in Varadero. Right now, the Majorca-based company tops of the list of major hotel chains with operations and lodgings in Cuba.
