The GBTA Foundation, the education and research arm of the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) – announces the results of its latest GBTA BTI Outlook – Brazil report, a semi-annual business travel outlook and overall economic analysis of Brazil.

The Caribbean is anticipating at least a three per cent increase in tourist arrivals in 2014, after recording a significant hike in overall arrivals last year.

Foreign and Brazilian tourists are expected to spend $10.4 billion during next year's World Cup, more than the public funds invested for staging the event, the Brazilian tourism board said Friday. "These are important resources which fuel economic sectors of all Brazilian regions, from aviation to the informal economy," said Flavio Dino, president of state tourism board Embratur, in a statement titled "Mega-events are worth it."

The development of Cuba´s tourist industry constitutes a main goal for local authorities, who plan to turn this destination into one of the best positioned in the Caribbean and the world by 2030. Despite some difficulties in mid 2013, the winter season (from November 1, 2013 to April 30, 2014) is set to bring better results and more income.

The International Air Transport Association has released the Airline Industry Forecast 2013-2017 showing that airlines expect to see a 31 per cent increase in passenger numbers between 2012 and 2017. By 2017 total passenger numbers are expected to rise to 3.91 billion—an increase of 930 million passengers over the 2.98 billion carried in 2012.
