Jupiter Research finds that $128 billion in travel will be sold online in the United States in 2011. According to a new report by Jupiter Research, “US Travel Forecast, 2006 to 2011,” as much as 38 percent of travel revenue will be made online in 2011.
Rapid growth in China and India have boosted Airbus’s long-term outlook for airliner demand, the planemaker said on Wednesday, forecasting a need for 22,700 new airliners by 2025 worth about $2.6 trillion.

Hilton Hotels Corporation expects more than $2.5 billion in revenues generated from bookings on its proprietary websites for the full-year 2006 compared to $709 million five years ago, in 2002. Bookings through its websites have increased at a steady 30 percent year over year since 2002, and accelerated to a 39 percent increase in the third quarter of 2006 versus the third quarter of 2005.
Continuing demand for corporate travel without a commensurate lift in supply will push costs higher across the board in 2007, according to the American Express Global Business Travel Forecast. Air fares worldwide are expected to increase –though at a slower pace than in 2006 – while hotels rates will remain at heightened 2006 levels and surge in key business centers.
Travel research and strategy firm PhoCusWright Inc. found that almost 40 percent of all types of travel purchased in Europe will be booked online by the end of 2008. The findings are part of a major study conducted by PhoCusWright across five major European markets in summer 2006. The PhoCusWright study revealed that transaction volume will more than double the proportion of 2005, according to preliminary findings to be presented at The PhoCusWright Travel Conference, scheduled for September 25 to 27 in Brussels, Belgium.
