St. Lucian Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has lent his voice to the debate surrounding United States President Trump’s recent decision to discontinue what he claimed was a “one-sided” policy with Cuba.

The Trump administration's expected tightening of restrictions on American travel to Cuba is disappointing, ASTA said.

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) is disappointed to hear of President Trump’s plan to reverse key elements of the trading relationship between the US and Cuba, as outlined by President Obama in 2014 and by his visit last year.

Although the Cuban travel policy will mean tighter travel restrictions, the resumption of direct U.S.-Cuba commercial flights, and new cruise line routes will remain.

Making good on a campaign pledge, President Donald Trump on Friday announced in Miami a significant rollback of former President Barack Obama’s accord with Cuba by clearly banning tourist travel to the island.

Wallace also said Caribbean islands tend to always measure number of tourists coming to their destinations as solid information about their tourism sector.
