Jamaican Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett, is urging members of the new Tourism Competitiveness Task Force to build on the achievements of the tourism sector.

The UK’s vote to leave the European Union is being seen as significant to Jamaica’s tourism industry, but the Tourism Ministry says there’s no need to panic.

Following the decision by the UK electorate to leave the European Union, UKinbound – the leading trade association which represents 370 of the country’s tourism businesses – says the Government must now focus on securing the best possible trade deal for the inbound sector; an industry which contributes over £22 billion per annum to the UK economy.

Following the referendum on 23 June, the people of the United Kingdom have voted to leave the European Union.

Edmund Bartlett, Jamaica's minister of tourism, unveiled his tourism master plan to the Parliament of Jamaica last week.

Jamaica recorded 3.6 million stopover and cruise visitors combined and revenues of US$2.5 billion in 2015, the island's Tourism Minister said.
