The Allianz Partners 2024 European Holiday Destination Index analyzed over 940,000 travel itineraries for trips between November 27, 2024, and January 5, 2025, highlighting a surge in demand for both classic and emerging European destinations. London retains its top spot as the most popular city for American holidaymakers, followed by Paris, Madrid, and Rome.
Northern Europe on the Rise
Northern European cities are experiencing a notable increase in U.S. visitors this winter. Dublin, now ranked fifth, has climbed two spots since last year. Meanwhile, Helsinki makes its debut in the top 20, leaping five positions, thanks to its enchanting winter landscapes, reindeer encounters, and the dazzling Northern Lights, expected to deliver spectacular shows this season. Amsterdam also remains a favorite, attracting off-season travelers with its cozy canals and vibrant cultural offerings.

Germany continues to charm with its Bavarian cheer, as Frankfurt (#7) and Munich (#9) rise in popularity.
