Columbus is set to burst onto the national stage with a dynamic new tourism campaign, unveiled Thursday night at the Tourism US annual meeting held at the Columbus Museum of Art. This initiative, rolled out by Experience Columbus during U.S. Travel Association’s National Travel and Tourism Week, aims to highlight the city's vibrant culture and attractions, positioning it as a top-tier travel destination.

Experience Columbus President and CEO Brian Ross introduced the "yes, Columbus" campaign, designed to reshape perceptions and attract visitors with the city's unique offerings. "This campaign is a declaration that Columbus is ready to emerge from the shadows of other major Midwest cities," Ross proclaimed. "It's right for the moment we’re in and for the foreseeable future."

The campaign underscores a strategic effort to cement Columbus' place on the tourism map, with a focus on boosting visitor numbers and economic impact. According to Longwoods International, Columbus saw a record-breaking 51.2 million visitors in 2023, generating over $8.2 billion in local business revenue. These visits supported approximately 82,568 jobs and produced substantial tax revenues for local services and development.

The event also celebrated key contributors to Columbus’s tourism industry through the inaugural Best of US Awards, honoring individuals and organizations like Stonewall Columbus, Inc., The Junto, Historic Trolley District, Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, and Joe Kapferer for their innovative and inclusive efforts.

Looking ahead, Ross and other city leaders outlined several transformative urban projects. The Capital Line, a new two-mile pathway for bikes and pedestrians, will connect downtown Columbus' key amenities, green spaces, and job centers. Additionally, the $2 billion LinkUS transportation initiative, a comprehensive local airport expansion, and the creation of a new fashion innovation hub are set to redefine the cityscape and enhance its appeal.

Greg Brady, CEO of Downtown Columbus Inc., emphasized that these ambitious projects are designed not only to attract tourists but also to enrich the lives of Columbus residents. "As we embark on these initiatives, Columbus is set to enhance its appeal as a tourist destination and improve the quality of life for our community," he noted.

The "yes, Columbus" campaign signals a bold new chapter for the city, promising an exciting future for both visitors and locals alike.
