Avelo Airlines is expanding its operations at Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN), adding a new nonstop route to New Orleans and doubling its winter flights to Puerto Rico.

Beginning November 14, Avelo will offer direct flights from HVN to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) on Thursdays and Sundays. Additionally, starting November 8, the airline will increase its service to San Juan, Puerto Rico, with four weekly flights.

To accommodate this growth, Avelo is expanding its fleet of Boeing Next Generation 737-800s at HVN, which will double the number of large aircraft based at the airport. The expansion will enhance capacity and support Avelo’s commitment to providing affordable and reliable air travel in Southern Connecticut.

Avelo Airlines, which began operations in April 2021, now offers flights to 43 destinations across the U.S. and beyond. The airline emphasizes convenience with low fares starting at $79, easy travel experiences, and industry-leading reliability, including the lowest flight cancellation rate and top on-time performance.
