Honeywell Technologies Power Avianca's New Airbus A320neo Fleet

Honeywell has been chosen by Avianca, Colombia’s largest airline, to supply advanced avionics and mechanical systems for its new Airbus A320neo fleet.
This collaboration aims to enhance Avianca’s operational efficiency and pilot situational awareness while supporting Honeywell’s vision for the future of aviation. The selection includes Honeywell’s state-of-the-art 131-9A auxiliary power units (APUs), which provide ground power to ensure passenger comfort and energy efficiency.
The agreement includes several cutting-edge avionics systems tailored to boost flight safety and performance. Avianca’s A320neo aircraft will feature the Pegasus II Flight Management System for optimized navigation, IntuVue RDR-4000 3D Weather Radar for advanced weather tracking, and SmartTraffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) for enhanced mid-air safety. Other key technologies include Honeywell’s Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) and Integrated Multi-Mode Receiver for precise navigation, even on challenging runways.
These technologies are expected to deliver significant benefits, including improved fuel efficiency, safer flights, and intuitive cockpit interfaces. Honeywell's APUs, renowned for reliability, complement the avionics by ensuring seamless operations and minimizing energy waste, with over 100 million in-service hours to their credit.
Honeywell executives highlight the collaboration as part of their century-long commitment to aviation innovation. Heath Patrick, President of Honeywell Aerospace Technologies for the Americas, emphasized that these technologies would enhance operational performance while supporting safer and more efficient flights. Avianca’s senior VP, Francisco Raddatz, echoed these sentiments, calling the partnership a crucial step toward better safety and efficiency for the airline’s crew and passengers.
Honeywell’s extensive aerospace portfolio spans commercial, defense, and space sectors, offering solutions that improve flight efficiency, safety, and reliability. With this partnership, Avianca’s A320neo fleet gains access to the industry’s leading technologies, reinforcing its commitment to operational excellence.
