LOT Starts Direct Flights from Poland to Cancun

In preparation for the winter travel season, Quintana Roo welcomes a significant enhancement to its international connectivity with the introduction of direct flights from Poland to Cancun. The initiative, a collaboration between tour operator Rainbow and LOT Polish Airlines, is expected to attract Polish travelers to the Mexican Caribbean, bringing increased economic benefits and shared prosperity to the region.
Expanded Air Routes
Bernardo Cueto Riestra, head of the State Secretariat of Tourism (SEDETUR), announced that weekly flights will operate on LOT’s state-of-the-art 787 Dreamliner. Travelers can now fly directly from Warsaw to Cancun on Sundays and from Katowice to Cancun on Thursdays, providing a direct link between Poland and Mexico’s premier tourist destination.
These flights not only offer convenience for Polish tourists but also create a key air bridge between two high-potential tourism markets. This aligns with the state’s goal of enhancing its position as a world-class tourist destination.
Commitment to Sustainable Tourism Growth
Under the leadership of Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, Quintana Roo continues its focus on sustainable tourism growth and market diversification. Cueto Riestra emphasized that improving air connectivity is vital for the state’s tourism-driven economy, as it supports employment and the well-being of local families.
"We applaud the efforts of Rainbow and LOT Polish Airlines and remain committed to opening new routes that expand opportunities for all," said Cueto Riestra.
Economic Impact Across the Tourism Chain
The direct flights from Poland are expected to boost not only Quintana Roo’s popular tourist hotspots but also the broader tourism value chain. Hotels, restaurants, and other businesses will benefit from the influx of international visitors, further driving economic growth and shared prosperity in the region.
Strengthening International Relations
The launch of these new air routes underscores the importance of fostering strong international ties. By continuing to attract tourists from strategic markets like Poland, Quintana Roo solidifies its global appeal while supporting its local economy and promoting the richness of the Mexican Caribbean.
