United Airlines Speeds Up Starlink Rollout
United Airlines has announced an accelerated timeline for deploying SpaceX's Starlink, the industry-leading high-speed inflight connectivity, across its fleet. The first Starlink-enabled flight is now set for spring 2025, with plans to equip the entire two-cabin regional fleet by the end of the year and the first mainline aircraft shortly thereafter.
As part of this game-changing upgrade, Starlink access will be free for all MileagePlus members. Passengers can enjoy seamless inflight experiences, including streaming, shopping, and gaming, both on seatback screens and personal devices. United’s award-winning loyalty program is free to join, offering a host of benefits, including no blackout dates for award seats and the ability to pool miles with family and friends.
"We’re bringing Starlink to as many planes as possible, as quickly as possible," said Richard Nunn, CEO of United MileagePlus. "This will not only transform how our passengers connect but also unlock new partnerships and benefits for our members."
United's partnership with SpaceX, signed last September, is the largest agreement of its kind in the airline industry. Passengers will soon experience high-speed, low-latency internet, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity from gate to gate—an offering unmatched by any other major U.S. airline.
With over 31,000 United seats booked daily using MileagePlus miles, the program remains a cornerstone of the airline’s customer experience.
This Starlink rollout marks a pivotal moment for United as it leads the industry in redefining inflight connectivity. The first Starlink-enabled flight will set a new standard for passenger expectations, combining cutting-edge technology with unmatched loyalty benefits.
