The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) unveiled its new initiative, ‘Together in Travel,’ at the 2024 Global Summit in Perth, Australia, aimed at supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) within the global tourism sector. This platform seeks to empower SMEs by providing essential resources, tools, and a global community to foster their growth and success.

Through a free subscription, SMEs can access a wide array of educational programs, content, and networking opportunities. Paid subscription tiers will be introduced next year, offering additional benefits to further enhance business development.

WTTC President & CEO Julia Simpson emphasized the critical role of SMEs in the industry, stating that these businesses contribute significantly to tourism through innovation, local expertise, and start-ups. Simpson noted that this is the first time SMEs can join a global community to share ideas and access tools for business improvement.

Matthew Upchurch, Vice Chair of Membership at WTTC, highlighted the importance of this initiative in helping SMEs overcome challenges brought on by the pandemic and in creating a more resilient and sustainable future for the sector.

Ryan Mossny, Co-Founder of Matagarup Zip+Climb, praised the initiative, noting that the tailored support offered by WTTC will help small businesses tackle their challenges, thrive, and remain competitive in the market.

WTTC remains committed to promoting sustainable growth and inclusive practices in the Travel & Tourism sector, which is projected to reach a record-breaking global economic contribution of $11.1 trillion in 2024.
