What was supposed to be a relaxing afternoon on deck turned chaotic aboard Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Sunrise, when a fight broke out among passengers, prompting an immediate response from ship security. The incident took place around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, while the vessel was sailing back to Miami on a four-day cruise with stops in The Bahamas.

The altercation occurred shortly after the ship’s call at Half Moon Cay, Carnival’s private island in The Bahamas. Videos shared on social media show passengers throwing chairs and punches on the Lido Deck near the Pizzeria, while others screamed and scrambled to escape the scene.

Carnival’s security personnel acted quickly to deescalate the situation and separate the individuals involved, as shocked onlookers watched.

Carnival Cruise Line confirmed that the guests involved have been permanently banned from sailing on any of its ships, in accordance with the company’s strict zero-tolerance policy on violence.

“What’s sad is now they’re not going to get to enjoy the cruise they paid for. They’ll be locked in a room and banned from Carnival,” commented one passenger on social media. Another guest claimed that one of the individuals was being held in his cabin under 24/7 security watch.

While the cause of the fight has not been officially disclosed, the cruise line reiterated that such behavior is unacceptable not only on its vessels but across the entire industry. Carnival has recently reinforced its onboard code of conduct, reminding guests of the consequences of disruptive actions.

This incident follows several others aboard Carnival ships in recent years. Almost exactly a year ago, a brawl at the buffet of the Carnival Paradise made headlines, and in April 2025, another passenger fight was reported at the Galveston cruise terminal during disembarkation.
