Princess Cruises announced a major expansion of its Caribbean and Panama Canal itineraries for the 2027-2028 seasons, adding 31 ports across five homeports and introducing a new destination named Celebration Key. This indicates continued industry confidence in the region.

Celebration Key, located in the Bahamas, will become one of the largest exclusive-use destinations ever included in a Caribbean portfolio, designed to offer premium experiences for cruise passengers and enhance on-shore tourism contribution.

The expanded program positions the Caribbean for broad appeal—from mass-market cruising to more premium, immersive shore experiences. It also signals that cruise lines expect long-term growth in the region, not just recovery.

For Caribbean destinations, this means increased opportunity—but also increased competition to ensure they deliver high-quality shore-excursions, guest services and community benefit so they capture more value from ship calls.

Local tourism officials are already discussing how to position their destinations to benefit: offering culturally engaging shore activities, sustainable port operations, and integration with local small-business vendors.

Travel advisors note that expanded itineraries may encourage earlier booking patterns—making the 2026-27 season more visible now and increasing demand for premium cabins and themed voyages.

The move underscores that the Caribbean remains a strategic region for cruise growth but must continue evolving in terms of sustainability, visitor-experience quality and community integration.
