Holland America Line has announced two new cruises designed to give guests front-row seats to the total solar eclipse of August 2, 2027. Sailing through prime eclipse zones off the coasts of Morocco and Tunisia, the voyages aboard Nieuw Statendam and Oosterdam promise optimal viewing conditions at sea, far from potential cloud cover. Each cruise will feature themed programming, expert-led lectures, and provided eclipse glasses for a safe and enriching experience.

The 28-Day Legendary Solar Eclipse & Cosmic Port Explorer departs July 10, 2027, from Rotterdam or Dover, exploring 13 ports across Western Europe and North Africa, including an eclipse-viewing position near Morocco. The 14-Day Solar Eclipse & Astronomical Discovery departs July 31, 2027, roundtrip from Athens, and includes stops in Tunisia, Malta, Italy, and Greece, with celestial landmarks and observatories featured in port excursions.

In addition to the eclipse cruises, Holland America has opened bookings for three 14-day Northern Lights voyages aboard Rotterdam and Nieuw Statendam in October and November 2027. These sailings explore Norway’s Arctic north, spending five days above the Arctic Circle and overnighting in Alta, known as “The City of the Northern Lights.” Guests can sign up for special wake-up calls when the aurora appears.

Travelers booking these 2027 cruises can benefit from Holland America’s Have It All Early Booking Bonus, which includes perks like shore excursions, specialty dining, premium beverages, and Wi-Fi. Members of the Mariner Society loyalty program also qualify for up to $400 onboard credit per stateroom if booked by August 27, 2025.

These celestial-themed cruises highlight Holland America Line’s commitment to offering immersive, nature-focused travel experiences, combining rare astronomical events with cultural discovery across Europe and beyond.
