Caribbean Travel Marketplace 2026

The Caribbean tourism industry has turned its gaze toward Antigua, where the 44th edition of the Caribbean Travel Marketplace is set to take place from May 12 to 15, 2026.

Organized by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA), this business forum represents the most influential gathering for sector decision-makers, solidifying the twin-island nation as a hub for economic cooperation for the second consecutive year.

The event will be headquartered at the American University of Antigua (AUA) conference center, a venue prepared to host over 500 delegates from across the globe. The central objective is to facilitate commercial agreements between hoteliers, tour operators, airlines, and government agencies aiming to boost visitor arrivals to the region for the upcoming seasons.

An Agenda Focused on Innovation and Growth

The official schedule kicks off on Tuesday, May 12, with an opening reception at the Cedar Valley Golf Course, marking the start of what authorities describe as "a decisive week for the regional GDP." Throughout the following days, thousands of pre-scheduled business appointments will occur, with applied technology and artificial intelligence in destination marketing serving as recurring themes for debate.

This year’s program stands out for its diversification, including specific milestones designed to elevate the quality of the Caribbean's value proposition:

Responsible Tourism: May 14 will be dedicated to analyzing sustainability practices, urging developers to protect marine ecosystems as the destination's primary asset.

Direct Booking Summit: The event's conclusion on May 15 will take place at Sandals Grande Antigua, focusing on strategies to maximize direct sales and reduce reliance on global intermediaries.

Strategic Synergy with Local Gastronomy

A distinguishing element of this edition is its integration with Antigua & Barbuda Restaurant Week. This strategic overlap allows international buyers to not only negotiate rates but also experience the island's culinary heritage firsthand, a factor that has gained significant weight as a travel motivator in European and North American markets.

The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority emphasized that hosting the Marketplace is a testament to the country’s robust logistics infrastructure. With the recent expansion of air connectivity and the modernization of port services, the archipelago positions itself not just as a sun-and-sand retreat, but as a competitive destination for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) on a global scale.

For CHTA experts, this forum is crucial for addressing common challenges such as climate resilience and price competitiveness against other emerging markets. The results of the negotiations finalized during these four days in Antigua will largely define the tourism growth projections for the entire Caribbean basin through the end of 2026 and the start of 2027.
