Excelencias Cuba 2023 Awards Presented in Havana

The Excelencias Cuba 2023 Awards, whose call for entries is open until Feb. 25, were presented Tuesday by Excelencias Group President Jose Carlos de Santiago at a press conference held in Havana.

Before the national and foreign media, Jose Carlos de Santiago said that these awards recognize acts that are beneficial to society.

Created in 2005 by the Excelencias Group with the aim of recognizing praiseworthy work, the International Excelencias Awards are given annually in Madrid to personalities, projects and institutions whose work is beneficial for the community and the world, especially in the fields of tourism, gastronomy and culture, recalled the president of the Excelencias Group. 

In particular, since 2012 the Excelencias Group has been granting the Excelencias Cuba Awards, which pay tribute to major figures, projects and institutions that stand out in the fields of tourism, culture, education, gastronomy and society on the island.

These awards will be handed out on March 15 at a Gala to be held at the Covarrubias Hall of Cuba's National Theater, where professionals from the country's most relevant institutions will be in attendance.

Year after year, the award winners are derived from a wide and varied selection of candidates presented, which are selected by secret and unappealable vote of the members of the jury.

The awards recognize the good things that exist in Cuba, said De Santiago, who praised the support received by many people, especially those who have led the Ministry of Tourism, such as "Mr. Manuel Marrero," whom he thanked.

The Excelencias Group has handed out the Excelencias Cuba Awards to some 180 personalities, institutions and projects.

In addition, Cuba has received 15 international Excelencias Awards. Among the 45 projects from 19 countries that won the Excelencias Awards 2023, four were from Cuba: Protection of the Jardines de la Reina, Marina Marlin-Avalon; Floridita Restaurant, Palmares; Gran Hotel Inglaterra by Gran Caribe-Blue Diamond; and Cuba's Bartenders Association.

To submit the candidatures, the following form must be downloaded and filled out with the project data. The form must be sent to premioscuba@excelencias.co.cu before February 25.
