Choice Hotels International Expands Global Footprint Worldwide

Choice Hotels International is experiencing rapid global expansion, marked by impressive growth in the upscale and upper-upscale segments. In the first half of 2025 alone, the company added 31 new hotels and more than 3,300 rooms outside the U.S., while boosting its international pipeline by over 11,000 rooms — a 95% increase since January. Key new additions include the Garden SSAW Hotel Beijing, a five-star property in China, and the Ice Hotel in Sweden, which joined the Ascend Hotel Collection. Upcoming openings include a Radisson Blu in Bariloche, Argentina, and the first Cambria Hotel in Canada, scheduled for 2026.
This momentum is driven by strategic investments in technology and franchisee support. A new distribution and master franchise agreement with SSAW Hotels & Resorts significantly boosts Choice Hotels' presence in China, adding 68 full-service properties with more than 9,500 rooms to the Ascend Collection. The company’s integration with Mews, a modern property management system, enhances operational efficiency and provides franchisees access to award-winning tools within the Choice Hotels ecosystem.
In the Caribbean and Latin America, Choice now operates 180 hotels totaling over 25,000 rooms. Recent 2025 openings include the Radisson San Luis Potosí in Mexico, Radisson Riviera in Panama, and V Grand Hotel in Medellin, Colombia. New market entries are planned for Chile, Suriname, and Argentina, where a full-service Radisson Blu will debut in Bariloche, overlooking the scenic Lake Nahuel Huapi. Additionally, the company renewed its exclusive 20-year master franchise agreement with Atlantica Hospitality International in Brazil, covering nearly 70 hotels.
In Asia-Pacific, the SSAW partnership introduces renowned brands like Pagoda, Narada, and Ginlan Jia, expected to go live on ChoiceHotels.com this year. These additions further strengthen the company’s upscale presence in China, alongside five new hotel openings across Australia, Japan, and India in 2025. This includes Comfort and Clarion properties in New South Wales, South Australia, Tanabe, Kochi, and Rajkot.
Choice Hotels is also scaling up in Europe, where it has onboarded 19 hotels this year. In Scandinavia, five hotels, including the Ice Hotel in Sweden, joined the Ascend Collection via a partnership with Strawberry. In France, 34 new properties were added through the Zenitude collaboration, while Spain welcomed several seaside properties through its agreements with Faranda Hotels and Sercotel. The company continues to strengthen its presence in Annecy and the French Riviera with Comfort-branded aparthotels.
In Canada, the company will debut its first Cambria Hotel in Thunder Bay, Ontario, by 2026, catering to both business and leisure travelers. Meanwhile, the Ascend Collection is set to expand with six new openings in Quebec and two in British Columbia. All international properties are integrated with Choice Privileges, the company’s award-winning loyalty program, allowing members to earn and redeem points at over 7,000 hotels in nearly 40 countries — including more than 180,000 upscale and luxury rooms worldwide.
