Marriott to Debut City Express by Marriott Brand in El Salvador

Marriott International has announced the signing of a major agreement with Corporación Polaris and Cardedeu to introduce the City Express by Marriott brand in El Salvador. The deal includes four new properties and adds 440 rooms to Marriott’s growing footprint in the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) region, further solidifying the company’s presence in the limited-service segment.
“We are very excited to bring the City Express by Marriott brand to El Salvador, a vibrant and culturally rich market,” said Alonso Burgos, Vice President of Development for Marriott in CALA. “This agreement reinforces our commitment to expanding reliable, high-quality hospitality throughout the region.”
Alberto Guerrero, President of Corporación Polaris, emphasized the regional significance of the project: “The debut of these properties not only demonstrates our commitment to excellence and regional growth, but also helps meet the growing demand for accommodations in El Salvador.”
Strategically Located for Business and Leisure
The four upcoming hotels will be strategically located to serve both business and leisure travelers, with proximity to San Salvador’s historic center, international airport, residential areas, and key commercial zones.
-
City Centro by Marriott San Salvador: Located in the heart of the historic center, this 31-room property will be converted by the end of 2025 and offer views of BINAES, the Metropolitan Cathedral, and Liberty Square, blending modern comfort with cultural heritage.
-
City Express by Marriott Aeropuerto: Expected in late 2026, this hotel will offer easy access between San Salvador and the Ilopango International Airport, catering to travelers in transit.
-
City Express by Marriott Santa Elena: Also opening in 2026, this property will be set along the Pan-American Highway in a dynamic area close to La Gran Vía shopping center, the World Trade Center, and top healthcare and education facilities.
-
City Express Plus by Marriott San Benito: Set for late 2027, this hotel will be based in San Benito, a lively district known for its businesses, nightlife, gastronomy, and cultural spots like MARTE (El Salvador Museum of Art).
A Growing Regional Brand
Part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio of more than 30 global brands, City Express by Marriott is rapidly expanding across Latin America. The El Salvador expansion follows recent announcements of the brand's growth in Argentina, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Peru, the United States, and Canada. In total, the City Express brand now boasts 153 hotels (over 17,700 rooms) and 62 projects in development.
This latest move reflects Marriott’s continued ability to scale regionally relevant brands and respond to evolving market needs in key emerging economies.
