Palace Resorts has officially broken ground on the brand's third Moon Palace, which will open in the Macao area of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

The resort, which is slated to open in 2021, sits a third of a mile from the shoreline and will have 2,149 rooms spread over 18 floors. Seventy percent of the rooms will have ocean views, with the remaining facing the 18-hole Greg Norman-designed golf course.

Food and beverage offerings will include 21 restaurants and seven bars. Additional amenities will be a swimming pool, a spa, a beach club and a convention center.

Palace said the resort will generate an average of 5,000 local jobs during the construction and more than 4,000 permanent jobs when occupancy reaches 95%.
