Super 8 by Wyndham Celebrates 50 Years with Nostalgic $8.88 Room Rates

Super 8 by Wyndham, a beloved name in roadside accommodations, is marking its 50th anniversary with a blast from the past. To celebrate five decades of service, the brand is offering a special promotion: room rates of $8.88 per night plus tax, a throwback to the rates from 1974. This offer is available for a limited time with only 888 nights up for grabs.

Super 8’s president, Mike Mueller, reflects on the milestone: “Remember when eight bucks could get you something special? Super 8 sure does! This milestone isn’t about looking back but celebrating how far we’ve come: from a single hotel in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to one of the world’s largest hotel brands with over 2,600 locations worldwide. And while our yearly odometer may read 50—continued investment by our franchisees means our hotels don’t look or feel it.”

In 1974, a gallon of gas was 53 cents, and a night at the original Super 8 cost just $8.88. Today, Super 8 has evolved significantly. Following a recent $140+ million renovation, the brand’s rooms now feature sleek furniture, stylish bedding, and modern amenities. The updated INNOV8TE room design includes large, bed-to-ceiling black and white art that highlights local culture and the unique character of each hotel.

Starting August 8, 2024, at 8:00 AM ET, travelers can secure one of the 888 throwback room rates by visiting www.super8.com/throwback. The special rate will be available through the purchase of 15,000 Wyndham Rewards points, which are good for at least one free night at participating Super 8 hotels. Points are redeemable for a minimum of 18 months after purchase.
