Wyndham Rewards Introduces U.S. Debit Card for Earning Travel Points

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has launched the Wyndham Rewards Debit Card, a groundbreaking offering that allows U.S. consumers to earn Wyndham Rewards® points on everyday purchases. Developed in collaboration with Galileo Financial Technologies and SoFi's Technology Platform, this debit card marks a first for a major hospitality brand and is designed to appeal to cash-savvy and debt-free travelers, including younger generations who prefer debit over credit.
The Wyndham Rewards Debit Card enables cardholders to earn points on everyday transactions such as gas, groceries, dining, and retail. Points can be redeemed for a wide array of rewards, including free nights at over 60,000 hotels, vacation resorts, and rentals worldwide. Cardholders also enjoy additional perks such as complimentary Wyndham Rewards Gold membership, hotel booking discounts, and an annual point bonus.
Charmaine Taylor, SVP of Strategic and Financial Partnerships at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, noted that many younger travelers, especially Gen Z, prefer debit cards as their main payment method. The new debit card ensures that they can now earn valuable travel rewards from their everyday spending. A recent EY study found that nearly 70% of Gen Z uses debit cards frequently, and 65% plan to increase travel spending in 2025, with many considering loyalty programs essential for travel planning.
Key features of the Wyndham Rewards Debit Card include earning one point per dollar spent on Wyndham Hotels, gas, and grocery purchases, as well as one point for every two dollars spent on other qualifying transactions. New cardholders can also earn a welcome bonus of 2,500 points after opening an account and meeting certain spending criteria within the first 90 days.
Other benefits include an annual bonus of up to 7,500 points, enough for a free night at many Hotels by Wyndham, a cardmember booking discount for stays at participating properties, and no monthly fee for those who maintain an average monthly balance of $2,500. Cardholders also enjoy waived ATM fees when using ATMs in the Cirrus network.
The Wyndham Rewards Debit Card, powered by Galileo Financial Technologies and backed by Mastercard, is issued by Sunrise Banks N.A., offering an easy and rewarding way for travelers to earn points on their everyday spending.
