Crystal Introduces “Photography Experiences of Discovery”

Crystal Cruises is introducing “Photography Experiences of Discovery” theme programming on two Mediterranean cruises this summer and fall.

The June 2 photography cruise from Lisbon to Venice will feature the expertise of Neil Leifer, a photographer and documentary filmmaker, best known for his photos of Muhammad Ali and other greats for “Sports Illustrated.” Fred Plotkin, an expert on Mediterranean arts and culture, will lecture on the region’s photographers –Robert Capa, Cornell Capa and Sebastiao Salgado.

Sophocles Alexiou, a master photographer and three-time winner of the Kodak Gold award and the London Portrait Group trophy, will offer private portrait sessions with guests. Select images from these portrait sessions will be presented in a custom-bound album.

The Nov. 1 Barcelona to Lisbon cruise will feature Theresa Airey, a photographer best known for her skill in restoration and integration of traditional printmaking and digital imagery, who will share tips on seeing photographically, expanding creativity and sharpening visual perception.

Simon John, a master photographer who has won 10 Kodak Gold awards for excellence in portraiture, also will hold private portrait sessions with guests. Additionally, the “Photography Experiences of Discovery” cruises will feature expanded classes and instruction on photo editing offered through Crystal’s Computer University@Sea. The itineraries call in cities in Italy, Portugal, Spain, Croatia, Montenegro and Morocco. Fares start $4,080 per person, double occupancy.
