Princess Cruises’ newest Sphere-Class vessel, the Star Princess, has successfully completed sea trials and is set to welcome its first guests on October 4, 2025, for Mediterranean voyages from Barcelona. Built by Fincantieri in Monfalcone, Italy, the 177,800-ton, 4,300-passenger ship is the second in the line to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), part of the company’s effort to reduce emissions.

From August 9–12, the Star Princess underwent rigorous testing in the Adriatic Sea, including steering, propulsion, and navigation systems. The vessel features two Azipod propulsion units for 360-degree maneuverability and four large controllable pitch bow thrusters for precise docking.

Captain Gennaro Arma, a 27-year Princess veteran and head of the Sphere-Class newbuild site team, led the trials. “I’m extremely impressed with the ship’s navigation capabilities and maneuverability,” Arma said. “My team and I can’t wait to welcome guests aboard for unforgettable adventures this fall.”

The ship will offer 30 dining and bar venues, luxurious accommodations including Sanctuary Collection suites, and more than 1,500 balcony staterooms with private ocean views. Notable attractions include The Dome relaxation and entertainment space, The Arena high-tech theater, the Piazza with sweeping ocean vistas, and Spellbound by Magic Castle®, an immersive speakeasy experience developed with the famed Hollywood venue.

The Star Princess is the sister ship to the award-winning Sun Princess and represents the latest evolution in Princess Cruises’ luxury-at-sea experience.
