Canada Closes its Borders to all Non-Citizens, Except Americans
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Monday that the country would be closing its borders to non-Canadian citizens or permanent residents to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
According to The Statesman Journal, the move included a notable exception: U.S. citizens would still be permitted to cross into Canada.
"For the moment, that measure does not apply to U.S. citizens," Trudeau told reporters in Ottawa.
Canada has 415 confirmed cases of coronavirus in all 10 provinces, and the United States has 4,287 cases in 49 states, according to Johns Hopkins data. Four Canadian deaths have been attributed to the coronavirus, while 74 Americans have died.
