On December 21, 2024, Miami International Airport (MIA) achieved a historic milestone by processing 201,180 travelers—the highest single-day passenger count in its history.

This achievement coincides with MIA's ongoing $9 billion modernization project, aimed at enhancing infrastructure and passenger experience.

The record-breaking day occurred during a peak travel period, with MIA expecting over 3 million passengers between December 21 and January 6, averaging nearly 165,000 travelers daily—a 1% increase over the previous year.

MIA serves as a major gateway for international and domestic travel, being the busiest U.S. airport for international freight and second for international passenger traffic. It significantly contributes to the local economy, generating $31.9 billion in business revenue and welcoming nearly 60% of international visitors to Florida.

This milestone underscores MIA's role as a vital hub in global aviation and reflects the growing demand for air travel in the region.
