2003 MITM’s grand opening is round the corner
The 2003 Latin America Meetings and Incentive Travels Market (an event usually known by the acronym MITM) will open its fourth edition in Mexican city of Merida (Yucatan) on March 13 through 15. This is so far the first and only professional meeting exclusively devoted to the corporate travel sector: conventions, incentive travels, congress and events.
A limited number of purchasers and companies will gather on the fairgrounds in which quality above everything else is the name of the game. Up to now, more than 150 businesspeople from 16 countries have registered for the 2003 MITM.
The exhibition effort comprises leisure industry samples from Mexico, South America and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean. The event is faithfully endorsed by the Tourism Promotion Council of Mexico, a nation that hosted two of the previous meetings (Guadalajara in 2000 and Leon Guanajato last year).
In the three previous fairs, MITM has hammered out a tally of 11,380 business contacts with 323 Mexican exhibitors and the rest hailing from Latin America, an effort that generated a grand total of $630 million.
Out of the total earnings reaped in the 2002 edition, a walloping 68 percent was racked up by Mexico, a country that ranks eighth and twelfth among the world’s top receivers of foreign tourists and hard currency respectively.
