The 9th Annual Riviera Maya Jazz Festival to Feature International Artists

The Riviera Maya has become one of the hottest tourism destinations in Mexico, a favorite of both domestic and international visitors. Warm, crystalline waters and sugar white sand combined with ancient ruins, its exuberant jungle and, of course, one of the top ten jazz festivals in the world, make it completely irresistible.

A fantastic lineup is expected to come together in the Riviera Maya, including Natalia Lafourcade, Randy Brecker, Staley Clarke and the Yellowjackets, November 24 – 26, 2011.

The Riviera Maya Jazz Festival will celebrate its ninth year from November 24 through 26, 2011. Over the years, it has come to capture the heart and the imagination of music lovers everywhere. Many jazz legends and Grammy winners have participated in the festival, including George Duke, Four Play, Sergio Mendes, Herbie Hancock, Ivan Lins, David Sanborn, Earl Klugh, Armando Manzanero and Sacbe, among others.

The Jazz Festival has developed into one of the biggest musical events of the Riviera Maya, and has also become one of the destination’s premier attractions -all part of the area’s commitment to offer visitors an unforgettable experience. During these three days, tourists will have the opportunity not only to enjoy the Riviera Maya’s undeniable beauty, but also an incredible array of music.

The festival begins on Thursday, November 24th, with Natalia Lafourcade, a talented artist, daring and irreverent, who champions her musical insolence by composing honest melodies that are nonetheless impossible to catalog. She has won several MTV awards and has been nominated for a Latin Grammy.

An invitation extended by the Mexico’s Big Band Jazz turned into a concert series, which in turn inspired her to start her own jazz band. She toured with them during an entire season in Mexico City. Natalia Lafourcade’s fresh energy will be an excellent way to kick off the festival.
