The recently concluded Colombian Tourist Tradeshow (ANATO 2005), organized by the country’s Association of Travel & Tourism Agencies, couldn’t be any better, said Luis Guillermo Plata, chairman of PROEXPORT.

The senior official explained this 24th edition served as a threshold to the International Tourism Round scheduled to take place in the second half of the year. Attendants inked over fifty contracts and agreements, especially between international buyers invited by PROEXPORT and some forty Colombian tour operators and travel agents.

According to ANATO Chairman Oscar Rueda, the Colombian fair was visited by 9,000 industry professionals that traveled to Bogota for this big event that unfolded from February 28 to March 2.

“The upshots couldn’t just be any better. We reported an turnout of 28 countries and some newcomers like Australia, Canada, Egypt, India, Italy, Jamaica, Paraguay, Turkey and Trinidad & Tobago,” he added.

As far as the business round is concerned, Mr. Rueda praised the participation of 32 international buyers and nearly sixty Colombian impresarios. In the same breath, expectations toward the arrival of more international airlines to the country are now hitting a high note.
