Artex’s Bis Music to Launch Album in Arte en La Rampa

On Wednesday August 5, Bis Music, Artex’s record label and publishing house, is going to shed media light on its Ortodecimante album plus DVD right at Pabellon Cuba’s Salon de Mayo, where the 16th edition of Arte en La Rampa Cuban culture show has been taking place since July 10. The production comprises 40 orthographical rules, sung by children.

Ortodecimante, which aims at giving children an entertaining and playful way of learning orthographical rules, was given the 2015 Cubadisco Award in Didactical Audiovisual Product category. The CD is made up of 40 rules that are sung as ten stanza poems, with the voices of young poets from Cuban provinces Mayabeque, Matanzas, Pinar del Rio, Sancti Spiritus, Villa Clara, Cienfuegos and Las Tunas; and the DVD includes a video clip, Ortodecimante book by poet and pedagogue Guillermo Castillo, in PDF format – the origin of this project – and the making of.

The general coordinator of the project, Patricia Tapanez, in an interview given to Cubasí website, said that the main characters of Ortodecimante– which can be already acquired at Artex’s stores Habana Sí, Artehabana and the sales outlet in Pabellon Cuba, just to mention some – are children that hold and practice the tradition with great sense of responsibility, they like and enjoy what they do.

The coordinator pointed out that combining orthography and such a tradition as country music, punto guajiro, was very gratifying and they had to work hard to sing the ten stanza poems. “The recording process was very complex, but we enjoyed it and the kids loved it” she recalled.

The official media launch, organized by Artex’s Bis Music, is going to feature these 33 kids, who will be performing such orthographical rules as the accentuation on proparoxytones, the plural form of singular words ended in z, accentuation of adverbs with –mente, among others.

With the late 2015 as their goal, the coordinators of the project are working so as to stage Ortodecimante with a children theater group based in Santa Cruz del Norte municipality and, in 2016, they want to go on a tour throughout the provinces with this staging, where the theater company will be accompanied by children from every territory of Cuba. These efforts to spread the project and take it to all Cuban children will be supported by Bis Music, Artex’s record label and publishing house.

Habana Sí store is nestled in 23 and L, Vedado, Havana, and Artehabana store in San Rafael, No. 110, Central Havana.
