Aruba’s Exciting New Weekly Carubbian Festival to Begin on Thursday
Minister Otmar Oduber announces the Carubbian Festival is ready for its first edition on June 9, 2011. This culminates months of hard work by the Carubbian Foundation to create a festival that will present the island’s visitors with a firsthand look at Aruba’s culture, arts, folklore and music.
Through the vision of Prime Minister Eman and the efforts of Minister of Tourism Otmar Oduber, the tireless and dynamic team has created a festival that not only provides the opportunity to try local cuisine and experience Aruban culture but also to know the people of Aruba.
It is so important that Aruba’s tourism promotes more of Aruba’s past, customs and festivals and all this and more will presented through the Carubbian Festival.
Beginning this Thursday, June 9, the festival will take place every Thursday night from 6 pm – 10 pm. An exciting Caribbean ambiance is created through special colorful tents; the music of Lee Conner, Impak and Prive will be in full swing. This festival is perfect for the whole family; there is a fun tent especially for kids.
Locals and tourists alike can enjoy Aruba’s local cooking and the delicacies of other Caribbean islands as well as fine workmanship and handicrafts, culminating in a tremendous Carnival show with brass band. All tourists who purchase the package will receive a Carnival mask especially designed for the festival which they can wear that evening and also take home as a memento.
The Carubbian Foundation together with Minister Otmar Oduber and the Aruba Tourism Authority extends an invitation to everyone on the island to join the party and share Aruba’s culture with visitors who will fondly remember not only this festival but the island’s warm and friendly people.
