Aruba Did Well at Berlin´s ITB 2005

Aruba was well represented at the recently closed ITB 2005, one of the biggest and longest travel tradeshow in Europe that devotes 3 days for consumers and trade and the last 2 days just for trade. A record number of 10,409 exhibitors from 181 countries attended the event.

The Minister of Tourism and Transportation was present as well as Myrna Jansen, Rafael Estrada, Humphrey Vrolijk, Rensley Zijlstra and Rita Morozow of the Aruba Tourism Authority.

Representatives of most of the Aruba hotels were also there as well as the President/CEO and the Marketing and Member Relations of.cial of the Aruba Hotel & Tourism Association, respectively Jorge Pesquerra and Dyane Vis.

Business prospects for Aruba looked very promising: For instance, TUI Germany has renewed interest in the island and Austria´s Lauda Air has indicated that there is a possibility for them to include it in a triangular flight with Tobago. Lauda Air is an upscale airline, operating Boeing 767-300 with great connections in Eastern Europe, A.M. Digital recalls.

On another development, KLM decided to postpone the additional 6th flight from March 28th to July 2005, the airline is currently struggling to fill-up the flights in March, April, and September. Additionally, while the hotels in Aruba are full KLM still has seats available.
