Caribbean Broadcasting Union´s Head Challenges Regional Travel Industry at Media Event in Antigua
Patrick Cozier, Secretary General of the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU), has challenged the regional tourism sector to reposition the industry in a bid to meet the ever-increasing demands of consumers worldwide and make the Caribbean a more competitive region.
Mr. Cozier called for an airline network that serves the whole Caribbean, and for local investors to move into the Cruise business as part of a process of building locally-based worldwide brands.
Addressing delegates at the one-day Caribbean Media Exchange on Sustainable Tourism in Antigua, Mr. Cozier, a prominent regional media manager, called for the creation of a viable pan-Caribbean airline network to serve the entire region.
He said the carrier should have the capability of serving all member countries in the Caribbean Community and should not have any bias of nationality reflected in its service.
"I think where we need to go from here is to transition from relationship to partnership. There are a number of vital areas that tourism and media have to work closely together on if we´re to develop the kind of smart partnerships that are going to be good for our region," he said.
