Caribbean Investment Meeting to Feature New Business Agenda
The upcoming 9th edition of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Investment Conference (CHTIC 2005) reaches a new milestone with the addition of a business component, a PROFIT Partnership Meeting sponsored by Pro€Invest, a program of the Group of African, Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) States and the European Commission.
Sponsored by the Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA), in conjunction with the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), and Burba Hotel Network (BHN), the event will be held May 9-11, 2005, at the Sherbourne Conference Center in Barbados.
The PROFIT in the Caribbean Partnership Meeting at CHTIC 2005 seeks to promote partnership and investment opportunities in the tourism sector. It matches pre-qualified tourism projects in the Caribbean with pre-screened European investors and one-on-one business appointments are pre-scheduled by computer.
CHTIC has the specific objectives of improving the tourism investment and operating climate across the region; making the investment community aware of the development opportunities available in the Caribbean; and stimulating a continuing flow of both equity and loan capital into the region.
This will be the second PROFIT Partnership Meeting held in the Caribbean. The first one was held as a stand-alone event in October 2004 in Jamaica, which saw more than 100 Caribbean project proposals meeting with investors and providers of services.
PRO€INVEST has since replicated their concept this month in Fiji, where CHA Director General Alec Sanguinetti was invited as keynote speaker on How to get into the Marketplace: Learning from the Caribbean Experience.
Once again, the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Investment Conference will feature specialists from the international finance, development, and tourism fields.
Workshops will feature speakers from the European Investment Bank (EIB), Ernst & Young LLP, International Finance Corporation, Inter-American Investment Corporation, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, and FirstCaribbean International Bank, among others.
Topics of the workshop include: Business Plan Development for Small Projects; Project Financing; Renovate/Reposition/Expand-Case Studies; and Global Equity and Finance.
