The Caribbean is poised for an economic recovery and ready to receive a growing number of vacationers which is evidenced by the tour operators’ interest in the region. This interest is calculated by the number of pre-scheduled appointments wholesalers and tour operators have made with Caribbean hoteliers for the upcoming Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) Caribbean Marketplace 2010.

CHTA has arranged 11,930 pre-scheduled appointments for Caribbean Marketplace 2010,
the second highest in the past eight years and just three percent behind the total appointments for Caribbean Marketplace 2009. Currently there are 1,019 delegates registered for the conference with registration continuing through the start of the conference.

Staged by CHTA, along with the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, Puerto Rico Convention
Bureau, Puerto Rico Hotel and Tourism Association, MasterCard and Virgin Holidays,
Caribbean Marketplace takes place at the Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan,
Jan. 10-12, 2010.

“The influx in registrations for Caribbean Marketplace 2010 indicates that there is a high interest level in Caribbean vacations worldwide and tour operators and wholesalers are recognizing this demand and making appointments with Caribbean hoteliers in order to create vacation packages for 2010 and beyond,” said Enrique De Marchena Kaluche, president of CHTA.
